The Spanish Football Federation announced that Barcelona star Ferran Torres has left the Spain national team camp due to a muscle injury.
Dani Olmo had also left the camp a few days earlier due to a muscle injury in his left leg, which sparked widespread anger at Barcelona, with numerous accusations of negligence against coach Luis de la Fuente.
According to the latest statement, Torres informed the Spanish national team’s coaching staff that he was experiencing muscle pain immediately after the last match against Georgia. He then underwent the necessary medical tests, which confirmed a muscle strain.
Accordingly, de la Fuente decided to exclude Torres from the Bulgaria match and return him to Barcelona, to prevent the injury from worsening and a repeat of the situation experienced by Olmo or Lamine Yamal last September.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported that Ferran’s injury is not serious, and that he only needs to rest for a few days. He should be ready to participate in next week’s match against Girona without any problems.
Barcelona has been dealing with a number of recent absences due to injuries, and Torres is one of coach Hansi Flick’s most important players. In his absence, Robert Lewandowski will be the only available option at centre forward.
