Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has launched a scathing attack on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, calling him “the worst player to be named the best player in the world in history.”
Salah has been suffering from a significant decline in form recently, forcing coach Arne Slot to keep him on the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday, amid widespread doubts among fans about the “Egyptian King’s” ability to return to his former glory.
Scholes spoke about Salah in a media interview, saying, “Even when he was scoring goals, he looked very bad. The ball bounced off his feet. He did some of the worst things you’ve ever seen, but he was scoring goals.”
He added, “When you stop scoring, you see all these other things. If he stops scoring, Slot will have to drop him from the starting lineup at some point.”
He concluded, “Mohamed Salah may be the worst player to be named the best footballer in the world.”
It’s worth noting that Salah has scored just three goals this season, and participated in the Reds’ four consecutive defeats against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, Chelsea, and Manchester United. He then came on as a substitute for the final quarter-hour against Frankfurt in a 5-1 victory, putting the Reds back on track.
