Reports have revealed controversial details surrounding Real Madrid’s handling of Kylian Mbappé’s injury, an issue that nearly had serious consequences for the French star’s career.
According to a report by the French television channel RMC Sport, the striker fell victim to a misdiagnosis that almost cost him his place in next summer’s World Cup finals.
The situation escalated to the point where Real Madrid’s medical staff treated the uninjured knee, leaving the injured one untreated. This exacerbated the pain, ultimately forcing the player to move around independently.
Due to the persistent pain, Mbappé sought a second medical opinion in Paris, where he and a knee specialist agreed on a different approach to his recovery. Since then, the former Paris Saint-Germain player has been able to return to the pitch.
The report stated that the inaccurate medical assessment in Madrid left Mbappé “furious.” This misdiagnosis was a decisive factor in the dismissal of Real Madrid’s medical staff earlier this year.
Reports indicate that Mbappé did indeed play through pain in several matches after suffering a knee injury last December. However, Real Madrid described the injury at the time as a case that “needed to be managed on a game-by-game basis” and predicted a swift recovery.
