Saudi Pundit Waleed Al-Farraj: “Mohamed Salah No Longer Fits the Saudi Pro League”

Renowned Saudi journalist Waleed Al-Farraj believes that Mohamed Salah long-rumored move to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) is “no longer appropriate.” Instead, he suggested that the Liverpool legend should either remain in Europe or head to MLS for the next chapter of his career.

Al-Farraj’s comments come amid intense speculation linking Salah to Al-Ittihad this summer, following the Egyptian’s announcement that he will leave Anfield at the end of the current season.

“The Fans Are Merciless”

Writing on his “X” (formerly Twitter) account, Al-Farraj expressed concerns over Salah’s declining form and the immense pressure of the Saudi league:

  • Alternative Paths: “I wish the great star Mohamed Salah an ideal conclusion to his inspiring career. Staying in Europe or moving to America would suit him better than playing in the Middle East.”

  • High Expectations: “Salah no longer fits the future plans of the Roshn League. Fans will demand the performance he gave three years ago, and our audience is merciless. I don’t think he needs this pressure now.”

Declining Numbers

At 34, the “Egyptian King” has seen a noticeable dip in his stats this season. After a legendary career in the Premier League, Salah has managed only 12 goals and 9 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this year—a sharp decline that has caused hesitation among Saudi officials regarding a high-stakes summer transfer.
