Salah saves Liverpool from Burnley’s trap with a last-minute goal

Mohamed Salah led Liverpool to a 1-0 victory over Burnley in the fourth round of the English Premier League.

The match at Turf Moor was not Liverpool’s best this season. Arne Slot’s side did not perform as expected despite the tremendous quality of their players.

Burnley played defensively, as expected, and were close to securing a point, had the Reds not been awarded a penalty kick in the 94th minute.

Salah successfully converted the penalty past goalkeeper Dubravka, scoring the only goal of the match and securing three valuable points for his team in the Premier League.

This was Salah’s second goal of the season, after scoring against Bournemouth in the opening match and failing to score against Arsenal and Newcastle. Erling Haaland and Viktor Gjokkers remain the Premier League’s top scorers so far, with three goals each.

Salah also became Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer from Premier League penalties, with 35 goals, breaking Billy Liddell’s previous record.

Salah’s tally of Premier League goals now stands at 188, surpassing Andy Cole to become the competition’s fourth-highest all-time scorer.

Liverpool became the first team in the history of the English Premier League to win four consecutive matches thanks to goals scored in the final 10 minutes of those matches!

With Liverpool’s victory, the Reds now top the table with 12 points, three points ahead of Arsenal, Tottenham, and Bournemouth.
