Liverpool star Mohamed Salah commented on the obituary published by the official UEFA account for Palestinian football star Suleiman Al-Obeid, who was killed in Gaza last week.
Al-Obeid, nicknamed the “Pelé of Palestine,” was killed by Israeli forces while waiting for humanitarian aid in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
UEFA wrote in its obituary, “Farewell Suleiman Al-Obeid, (Pelé of Palestine), a talent that restored hope to the hearts of countless children, even in the darkest of times.”
Salah responded to the UEFA account, writing, “Can you tell us how he died, where and why?”

At the beginning of the ongoing war in Gaza, Salah posted a video calling for the rejection of violence and peace, titled “All Lives Are Sacred.”
The Egyptian king was criticized for not speaking out much about the issue, but he tweeted this and received widespread praise in the Arab world.
There are growing calls for UEFA to ban the Israeli national team from its competitions due to the genocide taking place in Gaza, especially since the European Union previously banned the Russian national team immediately after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
