Salah apologizes to Liverpool teammates

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has revealed that forward Mohamed Salah apologized to his teammates following his recent outburst.

Salah had stated in a controversial interview that he felt like the club had “thrown him under the bus,” indicating that his relationship with manager Arne Slott had broken down.

The Egyptian international’s comments came after a period of poor results for Liverpool, and after he was left on the bench for the 3-3 draw against Leeds United on Saturday, December 6.

He was subsequently omitted from the starting lineup for the Champions League victory over Inter Milan, before returning as a substitute in the home win against Brighton.

“Salah is an independent person and can say what he wants,” Jones told Sky Sports ahead of the Tottenham game.

“He apologized to us, saying, ‘If I’ve upset anyone or made you feel unwell, I apologize.’ That’s the true character of the man.”

He continued, “I can only speak from my own experience with Salah and how he treated us and reacted to what happened. He was incredibly positive, the same Salah we all know, with his usual big smile, and everyone treated him the same way.”

He concluded, “I think this is just part of his constant desire to be a winner, and I don’t think he’ll be the last to act this way.”

Mohamed Salah has traveled to Morocco to lead the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations, and a crucial meeting between the 33-year-old and Liverpool’s management is expected to take place upon his return to England in January.
