Mohamed Salah posted a video on his X platform account announcing that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season.
The Egyptian international’s contract with the Reds still runs until the summer of 2027, but he has chosen to leave early, content with the great achievements he has accomplished with the English club.
In the video, Salah said, “Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”
He added, “I would like to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply I would connect with this club, this city, these people. They will become an integral part of my life.”
He continued, “Liverpool is not just a football club; it’s a passion, a history, and a spirit that I cannot describe in words.”
He went on to say, “I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of this club throughout my time here, especially my former and current teammates and the fans. I cannot find the words to express my gratitude for the support you have given me throughout most of my career and for standing by me during the most difficult times.”
“Leaving is never easy,” he concluded. “You gave me the best times of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home, for me and my family. Thank you for everything.”
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will allow the “Egyptian King” to leave for free next summer, as Atlético Madrid did with Antoine Griezmann in recognition of his contributions, or whether they will try to profit from his departure amidst significant interest from the Saudi league.
