Rooney: I Don’t Hate Ronaldo, But Messi Is Much Better

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney insisted that Lionel Messi is a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo, but he later reiterated that he loves “Don” despite all the talk to the contrary.

Rooney attacked the Ballon d’Or award, considering it illogical, and then went on to discuss the comparison between Messi and Ronaldo, even though he played with the Portuguese star for years at Manchester United.

Rooney said, “People think I hate Ronaldo. That’s not true. I love him and I think he’s an amazing player. I don’t think people realize how close I am to him.”

He added, “I love Messi so much and I love watching him play, and that’s the only reason I say he’s better, because I think Messi has more skill in the way he plays, the way he deals with players, and so on.”

He added, “Ronaldo is an extraordinary player, there’s no doubt about that. People think I hate him or despise him because I say Messi is better, but the truth is, I just admire Messi’s talent, that’s all.”

“Cristiano is a true genius. I take my hat off to him. I can’t say a bad word about him,” he concluded.
