Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned the top scorer in the 2024-25 Saudi League, having scored 24 goals in 29 matches.
At first glance, this may seem like ideal news for a legend like Ronaldo, but it’s actually a useless award given the Don’s extremely poor season.
Ronaldo began this season by losing the Saudi Super Cup, then was unexpectedly eliminated from the King’s Cup with Al-Nassr.
The disappointments were compounded when Al-Nassr lost in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League, exiting the competition at the hands of Kawasaki Frontale.
Since April, it has been certain that Al-Nassr will not win the Saudi League title, which has been absent for many years.
But the biggest disaster threatening Ronaldo’s future with Al-Nassr was the team’s failure to qualify for the AFC Champions League, finishing third in the Saudi League.
Ronaldo is without a title again, and strangely, this is the fourth year in a row that the 40-year-old has failed to win any title, as he hasn’t tasted a championship since the 2021 Coppa Italia with Juventus.
