The Portuguese star struck in the 50th minute, applying the finishing touch from close range to Mohamed Simakan’s ball across goal. The goal put Al Nassr 2-1 ahead at the time and added another historic milestone to Ronaldo’s remarkable career in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo Leaves Al-Sahlawi Far Behind
Ronaldo did not merely surpass Al-Sahlawi’s scoring total; he reached the landmark in only 110 appearances. The former Saudi striker needed 205 matches to score his 103 goals, meaning the Al Nassr captain broke the record in 95 fewer games.
Ronaldo has averaged 0.95 goals per match in the Saudi Pro League, compared with Al-Sahlawi’s rate of 0.50. Those figures underline how rapidly the Portuguese forward climbed to the top of Al Nassr’s scoring charts despite joining the club during the final stage of his career.
Al Nassr announced Ronaldo’s arrival on December 30, 2022, on a free transfer following the end of his second spell at Manchester United. He was officially presented in January 2023 before beginning his journey with the Saudi club.
131 Goals for Al Nassr
The 41-year-old has now scored 131 goals for Al Nassr across all competitions. That tally includes 104 goals in the Roshn Saudi League and another 27 in domestic cups, continental tournaments and Arab competitions.
Across his senior career for club and country, Ronaldo has reached 978 official goals, leaving him just 22 short of the historic target he has pursued for years: scoring 1,000 goals before retiring from football.
Ronaldo is under contract with Al Nassr until the summer of 2027. Although he has suggested that the 2026-27 campaign could be the final season of his career, his sustained scoring rate gives him a genuine opportunity to reach 1,000 goals—having first claimed Al Nassr’s scoring crown in the professional league era.
