All roads lead to Rodrygo’s departure from Real Madrid this summer, according to the Spanish media, especially after it became clear that the player was completely out of coach Xabi Alonso’s plans for the 2025 Club World Cup.
The Brazilian international only played 88 minutes in Real Madrid’s four matches at the World Cup. Despite Kylian Mbappé’s injury in the first round, Alonso still preferred to try young striker Gonzalo Garcia, who has scored three goals in the competition so far.
According to Spanish newspapers, Alonso informed Real Madrid’s management that he has no objection to Rodrygo’s departure, and the player realizes that if he continues at the Santiago Bernabéu, as he has wished in recent months, he will remain on the bench.
From the Real Madrid management’s perspective, there is now openness to a sale now that Rodrygo is untouchable. Real Madrid’s management sees this as a good opportunity to generate significant funds, and has already set a preliminary price of €80 million to approve the 22-year-old’s departure.
Arsenal remains the most interested in signing Rodrygo, but Bayern Munich has emerged as a likely option in recent hours.
The Bavarian club has been searching for a left winger since the start of the transfer window, with Luis Diaz and Nico Williams at the top of its list. However, Liverpool are reluctant to sell the former, and Williams has renewed his contract with Athletic Bilbao. This makes Rodrygo the ideal choice for Max Eberl’s management.
It should be noted that Arsenal is currently the favorite to sign Rodrygo, and the English club has decided to begin negotiations with Real Madrid about the player, but only after the Merengues’ Club World Cup campaign ends.
