Egyptian media reports stated that Ahmed Fatouh was under the influence of drugs during the hit-and-run accident he committed on Sunday morning.
The Zamalek star was with his teammate Mohamed Sobhi on their way back to Cairo from the North Coast, where he hit a police officer, who died instantly.
Fatouh was detained at the Alamein police station to be presented to the prosecution, while Mohamed Sobhi was released as he was not the one driving the car.
In recent hours, a picture of the results of the drug tests that Fatouh underwent was published, and they proved his use of hashish while driving.
Other sources have denied the accuracy of the circulated analyzes and say that they are a forged document.
In any case, Fatouh’s situation will be complicated if his drug use is confirmed, and he will be closer to a prison sentence than a fine or paying blood money as is customary in such cases.
At the same time, if drug use is proven, it threatens his career in football in general, as FIFA prohibits these substances and imposes strict penalties on users.
