A Barcelona legend has decided to retire from football and be content with a truly remarkable career.
Cadena Cope radio reported that Sergio Busquets will end his football career at Inter Miami at the end of the current season next November.
The 37-year-old joined Inter Miami after leaving Barcelona in the summer of 2023, and his contract with the American club officially expires at the end of this year.
Busquets believes he has given everything possible to the world of football and wants to conclude his MLS career with Inter Miami and then officially announce the end of his legendary career in the world of football.
Inter Miami is close to qualifying for the playoffs to determine the MLS champion, a stage that will witness the Catalan midfielder’s final moments in football.
Busquets is a Barcelona native, having established himself as a key player in the Blaugrana squad since joining the first team in 2009 and continuing until his departure in 2023. He is considered one of the best midfielders in the history of football.
Busquets has achieved many accomplishments in his career, winning nine La Liga titles with Barcelona, seven Copa del Rey titles, three Champions League titles, three UEFA Super Cups, six Spanish Super Cups, and three Club World Cups.
Internationally, Busquets won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 with the Spanish national team, while he won his only other title with Inter Miami, the Leagues Cup two years ago.
