Real Sociedad have qualified for the 2026 Copa del Rey final after defeating Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals.
The first leg of the semi-final saw Sociedad triumph 1-0 at San Mamés Stadium, and the Basque club repeated the same scoreline in the second leg at Anoeta Stadium.
Sociedad’s lone goal in the second leg came from Mikel Oyarzabal via a penalty in the 87th minute.
With this victory, Sociedad will face Atlético Madrid, who overcame Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
Sociedad previously met Atlético Madrid in the 1987 Copa del Rey final, where the Basque club emerged victorious on penalties.
Real Sociedad have won the Spanish King’s Cup 3 times, most recently in 2020, while Atletico Madrid have 10 titles, the last of which was against Real Madrid in 2013 at the heart of the Santiago Bernabeu.
