Real Madrid has reportedly renewed its interest in Barcelona and Spain forward Ferran Torres, setting the stage for a potentially explosive transfer market saga between the two El Clásico rivals.
Los Blancos had previously attempted to sign Torres during his early days at Valencia, but the winger opted for a move to Manchester City before returning to La Liga with Barcelona in January 2022.
According to French outlet L’Équipe, Real Madrid’s hierarchy is closely monitoring the situation of the 26-year-old forward following his pivotal role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph, where he scored the winning goal against Argentina in the final.
Barcelona Contract Status and PSG Competition
Torres remains under contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2027. Prior to the 2026 World Cup, the Catalan club valued him at approximately €50 million. However, his standout performances on the global stage could prompt Barça to demand a higher fee or push for a contract extension.
Reports close to the Catalan side suggest that Barcelona prefers to retain the player and plans to launch renewal talks in September. Torres himself reportedly favors staying at the Spotify Camp Nou, despite ongoing conversations between his representatives and interested clubs.
However, Barcelona’s financial need to raise funds—potentially to finance a move for Julián Álvarez—could force the board to consider offers. Nevertheless, a direct transfer to Real Madrid remains a highly complex scenario given the fierce rivalry between the two clubs.
