There is growing concern within Real Madrid following alarming updates regarding the health of defender Raúl Asensio.
The 22-year-old missed the recent Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich due to gastroenteritis, a problem initially considered minor, but which has worsened significantly in recent hours.
According to Cadena COPE radio, Asensio has been hospitalized for a comprehensive medical evaluation to determine the exact type of virus causing his condition.
This virus has caused Asensio to lose 6 kilograms in just two weeks, a dramatic weight loss that has raised concerns within the club.
While there were suspicions that his absence from the Bayern match was due to a disagreement with Arbeloa, it appears the player experienced dizziness and extreme fatigue in the hours leading up to the trip, prompting medical attention. Initial indications within the club pointed to gastroenteritis, but the severity of the symptoms necessitated further medical investigations.
The club’s top priority now is the player’s full recovery, regardless of any short-term sporting considerations, although his absence poses an additional challenge to a squad already struggling with inconsistent results amid the fierce battle for the La Liga title.
