Dani Carvajal is aware that his days at Real Madrid are numbered, and the club’s legendary right-back has already begun planning for the post-Santiago Bernabéu era.
Carvajal’s contract with Real Madrid expires next summer, and it is expected that the club will not renew it given his age and the numerous injuries he has suffered over the past two years.
According to Spanish media reports, the 33-year-old Carvajal understands that his departure from Real Madrid is closer than ever, and he does not plan to play for any other European club once he leaves the Spanish capital.
Currently, Carvajal is focused solely on recovering from his injury and working towards adding to his trophy haul in 2026 with Real Madrid, followed by representing Spain at the 2026 World Cup.
After that, Carvajal wants to enjoy his family and play football without the pressures of the international game, so he prefers a move to Qatar, where his brother-in-law and close friend Joselu plays for Al-Gharafa. Carvajal was indeed spotted in Qatar in recent days wearing Al-Gharafa’s jersey, and it’s highly likely the visit wasn’t solely to support Joselu or for commercial purposes, but rather to discuss a potential transfer to the Qatari club or another in July 2026.
It’s worth noting that Carvajal is one of Real Madrid’s most successful players in history. Since returning from his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen in 2012, he has made 434 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 37 assists, winning numerous titles, most notably the Champions League six times.
