Real Madrid star Dani Ceballos is close to a move to Marseille, according to various Spanish and French media reports.
Ceballos is aware that his chances of playing under coach Xabi Alonso are virtually nonexistent, so he would prefer to move to a club that guarantees him regular playing time so he can be included with the Spanish national team at the 2026 World Cup.
In recent weeks, it has been reported that Ceballos would be keen to return to Real Betis, but a major crisis is looming: the Andalusian club is unable to meet Real Madrid’s financial demands.
Famous journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Ceballos has received calls from Marseille in recent days to discuss a move to Roberto De Zerbi’s side, and the results so far have been very positive.
Marseille has not yet contacted Real Madrid to negotiate a transfer fee, but this is expected to happen in the coming hours. Initially, the deal appears somewhat “complicated” due to the Merengue’s desire to reap the maximum financial benefit possible. It is expected that Ceballos will end up at the Stade Vélodrome for a fee of between 10 and 15 million euros.
Despite Real Madrid’s good financial situation, the club needs to sell some of its players, which could facilitate negotiations with Marseille regarding Ceballos somewhat, especially since the player, as well as Alonso, wants to leave the Bernabéu as soon as possible.
