One of the duo, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, will leave Real Madrid during the current summer transfer window, if they are not sold altogether, according to AS.
Real Madrid signed left-back Álvaro Carreras from Benfica for €50 million, and he will be Xabi Alonso’s first choice for that position. It is inevitable that either Mendy or Garcia will leave this summer.
The most likely candidate for departure is Mendy, whose abilities Alonso is unconvinced of and who he sees as unsuitable for his style of play. Indeed, Real Madrid has set a price of only €14 million to offload the French international.
At the same time, Real Madrid’s economic situation will likely force another sale, and the club sees the sale of Fran Garcia as a good opportunity, especially since he has attracted significant interest from Milan.
However, the price of the young full-back is slightly higher than Mendy, with Los Blancos setting a €20 million price tag to sell him to the Italian club or any other interested club.
Real Madrid is inclined to keep Garcia after his good performance at the 2025 Club World Cup, but it is not unlikely that he will leave if the need to raise funds is urgent, especially as the club is looking for a new signing in midfield or attack before the end of the current transfer window.
