Tottenham made a huge offer to Como to sign Nico Paz this summer, but with Real Madrid’s direct intervention, the deal didn’t happen.
Paz left Real Madrid last summer and performed admirably with Como in Serie A last season. The club still has a buy-back clause, which they decided not to activate this summer and plan to use in the summer of 2026.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham wanted Paz by all means, to the point that the English club’s latest offer for him reached €70 million, making him the most expensive player in Spurs’ history.
Real Madrid officials clearly spoke to Nico Paz about his role as part of the club’s plans for next season, so they must continue with Como so that the club can pay the buy-back and complete the deal without any complications.
Ultimately, Paz agreed to Real Madrid’s wishes for his dream return to the Bernabéu. He initially preferred to stay with Como, especially since he feels comfortable with coach Cesc Fàbregas and his squad, and believes that remaining in Italy is best for his career.
It’s worth noting that the 20-year-old Paz scored seven goals and made 10 assists in 37 appearances for Como in all competitions last season.
