Cadena SER has revealed that Real Madrid has indeed succeeded in renewing the contract of one of its stars, but has decided to keep the matter quiet for now and postpone the official announcement to the fans indefinitely.
The player in question is Brahim Diaz, who, according to the report, agreed with the Royal Club last summer to sign a new contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until the summer of 2030.
Real Madrid officials preferred to keep the matter private and not announce it to the media, and Diaz’s agent respected the Merengues’ wishes. This is not unprecedented for Florentino Pérez’s administration, as the same thing happened with Ferland Mendy two years ago.
In practical terms, the Moroccan international is not having the best of times with Real Madrid. He has only played 484 minutes this season under coach Xabi Alonso, during which he managed to score one goal and provide one assist.
However, Diaz is determined to stay with Real Madrid at all costs, especially since he is always the first substitute in every match, and he expects his relationship with Alonso to improve in the coming period.
It is worth noting that Diaz is currently away from Real Madrid, playing for the Moroccan national team in the Africa Cup of Nations. During the group stage, he scored three goals, putting him joint top scorer in the tournament alongside Riyad Mahrez and Ayoub El Kaabi.
