In the final hours of the winter transfer window, Real Madrid received an offer from an English club for left-back Fran Garcia. However, the club’s management categorically refused to let the player go before the end of the season.
According to Cadena COPE, Bournemouth was the club that attempted to sign Garcia in recent hours, based on the advice of manager Andoni Iraola, especially given the player’s limited playing time.
Although Real Madrid might be interested in profiting from the Spanish international, the management felt that selling him now would weaken the squad, particularly since manager Alvaro Arbeloa also opposed the deal.
For his part, Garcia agreed to the idea of moving to Bournemouth. However, Arbeloa made it clear that the departure of the 23-year-old would create a crisis on the left flank, even though he has recently relied on Eduardo Camavinga in that position.
Álvaro Carreras remains Real Madrid’s first-choice left-back, with García considered his backup, although Camavinga and Ferland Mendy could also fill the position.
García has made only 14 appearances for Real Madrid this season, totaling 701 minutes, scoring one goal and providing no assists.
