Real Madrid fans erupted in anger at club president Florentino Perez after Monday’s 1-0 defeat to Getafe.
The Royal Club suffered its second consecutive La Liga defeat, diminishing their chances of reclaiming the title as the gap to leaders Barcelona widened to four points.
According to the newspaper AS, the fans who attended the Santiago Bernabeu match directed their fury at Perez.
In the final 10 minutes, a large number of fans left the stands, while the remaining supporters focused their efforts on attacking Perez, chanting “Florentino, resign!”
This is not the first time fans have targeted Perez; similar scenes unfolded in previous matches following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso.
Many believe that Perez is the reason for everything that Real Madrid has achieved this season after refusing to make certain deals, supporting a number of players within the team without needing them, and finally appointing and then firing Ancelotti halfway through the season.
