Real Madrid has become a real problem for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, something proven by the numbers.
The Norwegian international participated in his team’s match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, and he did not succeed in scoring or assisting.
This was Haaland’s third participation against Real Madrid throughout his career, and the irony is that he never succeeded in scoring against the Royal Club.
Haaland played against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals last season, and did not score either in the second leg in a 1-1 draw, or in the second leg in a 4-0 win.
In this season’s match, Real Madrid cemented its contract for the 23-year-old, as he reached 269 minutes without scoring against him.
Real Madrid became the most rival that the City striker faced without scoring against him in all the competitions of the five major league teams.
Haaland will have the opportunity to untie this knot when City and Real Madrid meet in the second leg next Wednesday at Etihad Stadium.
