Marca reported that Real Madrid’s management has decided to boycott the Ballon d’Or gala for the second year in a row.
The club had asked all its players and staff not to attend last year’s ceremony after news emerged that Rodri had won the Ballon d’Or instead of Vinicius Junior.
Since then, Real Madrid has launched a counter-campaign against France Football magazine over the award’s criteria and the unfair treatment of Vinicius. This campaign continues to this day.
According to the latest report, a delegation from France Football traveled to Madrid to meet with Florentino Pérez’s administration and work to resolve the differences. However, the meeting was not positive, and Real Madrid has continued its stance against the newspaper.
Real Madrid officials have again decided that no club representatives will attend the ceremony in Paris two weeks from now.
Ousmane Dembélé remains the favorite to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or, and faces stiff competition from Lamine Yamal. As was the case last year, the winner’s identity will not be revealed until the final moment.
