Real Madrid has entered into talks with a renowned coach to succeed Álvaro Arbeloa as manager of the club starting next season.
Jürgen Klopp’s name was the most frequently mentioned at the Santiago Bernabéu, but signing the German is considered virtually impossible due to his desire to remain outside of coaching.
According to the well-known journalist Ramón Álvarez, Unai Emery, the Aston Villa manager, is currently the top candidate on Florentino Pérez’s shortlist to coach Real Madrid next season.
Emery has extensive experience in Spanish football, having managed several prominent La Liga clubs such as Valencia, Sevilla, and Villarreal. He has also enjoyed success in England, particularly since joining Aston Villa three years ago.
Emery recently hinted that this season will be his last with Aston Villa, lending credence to reports that negotiations are already underway between him and Real Madrid regarding the position.
Emery is one of the most successful coaches in the world in the last decade, having won the Europa League title 4 times with two different clubs, as well as winning the French League once and the French Cup twice with Paris Saint-Germain. He also brought Aston Villa back to the Champions League and led them to the quarter-finals.
