The January 2026 transfer window could witness a major deal, as Real Madrid is now open to the transfer of one of its stars to Liverpool and is even pushing to finalize the deal quickly.
According to the website “caughtoffside,” Real Madrid has grown tired of Rodrygo’s performances and is now open to his departure in January rather than waiting until the end of the season to offload him.
Rodrygo has failed to score a single goal for the Royal Club in his last 30 appearances across all competitions, becoming relegated to the bench and losing the confidence of his coach, Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool is considered the club most interested in signing Rodrygo, as the Reds’ management seeks to bolster their attack in January.
Signing Rodrygo would represent a strategic success for Liverpool. On one hand, the English club would secure a permanent successor to Mohamed Salah on the right flank, and on the other hand, the player could salvage Arne Slott’s team’s disappointing season so far.
Real Madrid have initially set a price tag of €80-90 million for Rodrygo’s transfer to any club, and in recent days, the player’s agent has been urging clubs to secure formal offers for his client in January.
It is assumed that Rodrygo’s value will decrease through negotiation, with the deal ultimately settling at a maximum of €60-70 million.
Liverpool’s management enjoys a close relationship with Real Madrid, which could facilitate the completion of the transfer.
It’s worth noting that Liverpool have identified Bournemouth striker Antonio Simeone as their primary target for the winter transfer window, but the expected fierce competition from Manchester City might lead the Anfield club to shift their focus to Rodrygo.
The 23-year-old has only played 330 minutes across 12 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions this season, without managing to score a single goal.
