Rashford opens his Barcelona scoring account with a “normal” brace against Newcastle

Despite being widely criticized for his poor performance in La Liga, Marcus Rashford responded to the criticism by scoring two goals against Newcastle in the Champions League.

The England international started the Magpies’ match at St. James’ Park and was also criticized in the first half for missing several chances and performing below expectations.

However, Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, responded to all the criticism by scoring two goals in less than 10 minutes against Newcastle in the second half, between the 58th and 67th minutes.

Thanks to the two goals, Barcelona returned from England with all three points, despite Newcastle’s attempts to come back and score a goal through Anthony Gordon in the 90th minute.

Overall, Marcus Rashford’s brilliance against Newcastle is nothing new. He has scored five goals against the giant club with Manchester United, and now has his seventh, making him the second-highest goalscorer against any club after Leicester City (8).

The 27-year-old is now preparing for the next challenge, when Barcelona hosts Getafe at the Johan Cruyff Stadium in La Liga on Sunday, followed by an away game against Real Oviedo on Thursday.
