Ramos decides to leave Monterrey and return to Europe

Spanish media reports indicate that Sergio Ramos has decided not to renew his contract with Monterrey, which expires at the end of December.

Ramos joined the Mexican club last winter on a one-year deal, and although he has performed well at Monterrey, he wants to return to Europe.

Ramos’s decision to leave Monterrey stems from two reasons: one personal, as he misses life in Spain and Europe in general, and the other purely sporting.

The 39-year-old hopes to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the Spanish national team as his final appearance in football, and he understands that this can only be achieved by playing in Europe.

The Real Madrid legend envisions Aymeric Laporte’s scenario and how he secured a starting position in De la Fuente’s squad upon returning to Spain, hoping to replicate that success and convince the coach to include him in the squad for the 2020 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Ramos is not considering retirement at the moment and has tasked his agent with finding a new club in Europe for him to play for the remainder of the current season on a free transfer.

As of now, Ramos’s next destination within Europe remains unclear, although his biggest dream is to return to Real Madrid, even though that seems impossible at the moment.
