Pyramids star Feston Mayele has announced his conversion to Islam.
The Congolese international joined Pyramids in the summer of 2023 and has since become one of the most prominent strikers in Egyptian football.
During the second leg of the CAF Champions League final between Pyramids and Sundowns, Mayele scored a goal and then surprised everyone by prostrating during the celebration.
After the match, Mayele converted to Islam, announcing that he had changed his name from Feston to Mahmoud.
This news received widespread attention on social media, especially since it came as a surprise and without warning.
Mayele is not the first player to play in Egypt to convert to Islam. Last year, former Zamalek player Travis Mutyaba converted to Islam, and in the past, Ahmed Felix converted to Islam with Al Ahly, among many others.
