Premier League Player and Manager of the Month Winners Announced for August

Hours before the start of Matchday 4, the Premier League announced the winners of the Player of the Month and Manager of the Month awards for August.

Jack Grealish, who recently joined Everton from Manchester City, won the Player of the Month award, beating off competition from Hugo Ekitike and Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori, Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semino.

Grealish’s win is no surprise given his impressive performances in his first three Premier League matches, providing four assists, double the number of any other player in the English competition so far.

The 31-year-old is the first Everton player to win the Player of the Month award since November 2020, when Calvin Lewin won the title.

In a related development, Arne Slot won the Premier League Manager of the Month award after achieving a perfect record with Liverpool, winning his first three matches.

Slot beat three other nominees: Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Everton manager David Moyes, and Sunderland manager Le Bres.

The Dutchman scored eight goals with Liverpool, more than any other club, in three difficult matches against Bournemouth and Arsenal at Anfield, and Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, which explains why he ultimately won the award.

It’s worth noting that this is the second time Slot has won the Manager of the Month award, having previously won it last season in November 2024.
