Premier League Heats Up: Arsenal Hold to a “Deadly” Draw with Wolverhampton

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers in their rescheduled match from Matchday 31.

The match was played earlier than originally planned due to Arsenal’s participation in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on the same date.

The Gunners appeared to have a comfortable lead on paper, given their impressive form this season and the fact that Wolverhampton had only managed one Premier League victory.

Arsenal took a 2-0 lead through goals from Bukayo Saka in the 5th minute and Piero Hincapie in the 56th minute, and the match seemed all but over for Mikel Arteta’s side.

But Wolves came from behind, pulling a goal back through Hugo Bueno in the 61st minute, before Tom Edozie dashed Arsenal’s hopes of all three points with a last-minute equalizer for the Molineux side.

This draw reignites the Premier League title race, and Manchester City are undoubtedly the happiest with Arsenal’s slip-up.

The gap between the two teams is now five points in Arsenal’s favor, with City having a game in hand. A City victory in that game would reduce the deficit to just two points, making the Premier League title race a real battle.

It’s worth noting that Arsenal have been struggling in their last seven Premier League matches, drawing four, losing to Manchester United, and only managing wins against Sunderland and Leeds United. They have collected just 10 points out of a possible 21, effectively bringing the title race back into the open.
