US national team coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed his openness to the idea of coaching Real Madrid in the future, denying any current negotiations with the Spanish club.
Alvaro Arbeloa currently enjoys the backing of the board after achieving positive results recently, but his future still depends on how Real Madrid finishes the season.
If Arbeloa is asked to leave, Real Madrid has identified some potential replacements. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains the leading candidate, while Mauricio Pochettino has also entered the list of candidates due to his extensive experience in European football.
When asked about Real Madrid, Pochettino responded diplomatically, saying, “There are no talks. We are completely focused here on the World Cup. Everyone knows I have a commitment with the national team here. It’s not the right time to talk about the future.”
He added, “No one has contacted me, but who knows what the future holds?”
When asked about the possibility of continuing with the US national team beyond the 2026 World Cup, he added, “We are open to the idea of continuing. Why not, if the US Soccer Federation is happy?”
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid, under Arbeloa’s leadership, currently sits second in La Liga, four points behind Barcelona, and faces a tough challenge in the Champions League quarterfinals against Bayern Munich.
