US national team coach Mauricio Pochettino has entered the list of candidates to coach Real Madrid next season, replacing Álvaro Arbeloa.
The Royal Club has set a single condition for Arbeloa’s continued tenure: he must win the Champions League or La Liga titles. Otherwise, another coach will take over starting next July.
According to the “Defensa Central” network, Pochettino is among the names being considered for the Real Madrid job, especially since his style of managing the dressing room is very similar to Carlo Ancelotti’s, which could contribute to restoring stability to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Pochettino is currently under contract with the US national team until the end of the 2026 World Cup, so his move to Real Madrid is a possibility. However, he has set a key condition for accepting the job.
This condition entails active transfers during the upcoming summer window, specifically the signing of at least three players in the center-back and midfield positions. Otherwise, the Argentine coach will immediately reject the Real Madrid offer.
Pochettino’s condition is logical and aligns with Florentino Pérez’s administration’s intentions to overhaul the squad, making the Argentine an exceptional candidate to take the reins at the Santiago Bernabéu.
It’s worth noting that Jürgen Klopp is another candidate to coach Real Madrid, and former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s name has also been mentioned as an option currently being considered by Los Blancos.
