Paris Saint-Germain star accused of human trafficking

Paris Saint-Germain star Lucas Hernandez is facing serious charges of human trafficking and labor exploitation, brought against him by the Versailles prosecutor’s office in France.

The story dates back to September 2024, when Hernandez allegedly employed a Colombian family—a father, his wife, and their three children—within his household without residency permits and for extremely long working hours.

According to the French newspaper Paris Match, the family worked for Hernandez without employment contracts, putting in between 72 and 84 hours per week on security, cleaning, cooking, and childcare duties.

Hernandez failed to register the employees with the French social security system, as required by law. Consequently, there were no payroll records, and the player simply paid the family in cash without any written agreement between the two parties.

Lola Dubois, the plaintiffs’ lawyer, argued that the absence of contracts and social security contributions clearly demonstrated “the intent behind the crime,” especially since the family claims to have obtained forged Spanish documents to legitimize their situation, having signed confidentiality agreements in February 2025 for the player and his wife.

The complaint also includes an incident that occurred in December 2024, in which the Hernandez family allegedly used firearms and knives during an attempted robbery at the house.

Meanwhile, the Colombian family claims to have been subjected to pressure and verbal intimidation, which forced the five men to quit their jobs in November 2025 and file the complaint earlier this month (January 2026).

Hernandez, through his lawyer, initially denied these accusations, but he will now have to appear before the prosecutor in Versailles for further investigation before the case goes to court. If the allegations are proven true, he could face imprisonment, as well as hefty fines payable to the French government and the Colombian family.
