The score remained 1-1 until the end of regulation time and extra time, forcing the match to a penalty shootout.
Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov stole the show in the shootout, saving four penalties, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory for Paris and the title.
This is the French club’s first international title, following their loss to Chelsea in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final in the United States.
Thus, PSG completes a historic quintuple, having already won the French League, the French Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup.
Some don’t consider the Intercontinental Cup the same as the Club World Cup, but ultimately, it’s an additional title for PSG from the past season.
It’s worth noting that Paris will play Marseille in the French Super Cup on January 8th in Kuwait, hoping to complete a sextuple.
