Mohamed Salah’s comments have resonated widely among football fans, former players, and even performance analysis and statistics companies.
The Egyptian international expressed his frustration at not playing in Liverpool’s last three matches, believing the club had made him a scapegoat for the team’s poor form this season.
Salah cited Harry Kane’s dip in form and the support he received at the time, saying, “I remember a while back, Harry Kane went 10 games without scoring, and everyone in the media was saying, ‘Oh, Harry’s going to score, for sure.’ But for me, everyone was saying, ‘He should be on the bench.'”
However, Opta, the renowned football statistics and data company, has contradicted Salah with a statistic proving his claim about the English legend inaccurate.
Simply put, Harry Kane has never gone six consecutive starts without scoring in his career, contrary to what the “Egyptian King” claimed.
Salah had also been heavily criticized by legends such as Michael Owen, with journalists loyal to the Liverpool management attacking him for saying that what he said lacked “respect”.
