Paris Saint-Germain players will be unable to attend the 2025 Ballon d’Or gala at the Château de Châtelet in the French capital due to the simultaneous match against Marseille.
The Ligue 1 derby was scheduled to be played on Sunday, but a violent storm hit the southern French city, delaying the match for 24 hours.
Paris Saint-Germain announced coach Luis Enrique’s squad for the Marseille match, which is the same squad as on Sunday, with no exceptions, contrary to what was expected due to the Ballon d’Or gala.
Officially, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Fabian Ruiz will not be able to attend the Ballon d’Or gala, as will coach Enrique himself.
Only 3 players will be attending the gala: Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Douet, and Rubén Neves, due to injuries and being excluded from Enrique’s plans for the Marseille match.
All the former players are nominated for the Ballon d’Or, with Dembélé still the favorite to win it. Enrique is a candidate for the Johan Cruyff Award for the best coach in the world, while Doi could win the Raymond Kopa Award for the best young player in the world.
