Jürgen Klopp will not be coaching Real Madrid as a replacement for Xabi Alonso if the Spaniard is dismissed, according to all German media outlets in recent hours.
The German coach remains the dream choice for Florentino Pérez’s administration to succeed Alonso, and it is said that one of the reasons for keeping him in his current position is the Royal Club’s inability to convince him to leave his current role at Red Bull and return to coaching.
Red Bull’s Global Director of Football, Oliver Mintzlaff, spoke about the possibility of Klopp leaving his current position as CEO and moving to Real Madrid, saying, “He has made it clear that he does not want to be a coach at the moment; there is nothing to discuss.”
According to the newspaper “Sport,” Klopp has also told those close to him that he does not intend to return to coaching anytime soon, that he enjoys his current work in the administrative offices, and that he is not interested in taking on the coaching role at any club, regardless of its name.
Klopp was recently linked with a temporary return to Liverpool until the end of the season if Arne Slott were sacked, but he rejected the idea.
This isn’t the first time Klopp has turned down the Real Madrid job. It’s reported that Los Blancos tried to sign him last summer after Carlo Ancelotti’s departure, but he wasn’t interested, leading to the eventual appointment of Xabi Alonso.
The German coach has spoken on several occasions about the difference between coaching and any other profession, stating that he missed out on a lot over the past 20 years because of his coaching career and that he has no desire to return to it in the near future.
