Omar Marmoush has initially decided to stay with Manchester City until the end of the season, despite his limited playing time under Pep Guardiola and the club’s imminent signing of Antoine Semenyo.
Marmoush has only featured for 389 minutes this season across 15 matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist. This has fueled speculation that the “Egyptian Prince” might leave the Etihad Stadium on loan to secure regular playing time.
Tottenham was the first club to express interest in signing Marmoush, especially given the club’s current struggles and need for attacking quality. However, according to English media reports, the Egyptian star is not interested in the opportunity to join Spurs in the current winter transfer window.
On the one hand, Marmoush wants to stay and fight for his place at City, especially since Guardiola opposes his departure and prefers him to remain, believing the season is still long and he will inevitably get playing time to make his mark.
On the other hand, Marmoush has serious doubts that a move to Tottenham would be the best option for his career at the moment. The London club is suffering a sharp decline, currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League, and manager Thomas Frank’s future is uncertain. The tense situation within Spurs certainly doesn’t encourage the player to make such a move.
Marmoush is currently representing Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Once the Pharaohs’ campaign concludes, he will return and meet with Manchester City’s management to decide his future.
It’s worth noting that English media outlets have also linked Marmoush with a move to Aston Villa. It’s been reported that the Villa Park club has already begun exploring the possibility of signing the Egyptian player. The 25-year-old’s future with Unai Emery’s squad remains uncertain, despite their current third-place position in the Premier League and what is considered a near-perfect season.
