Omar Marmoush: Barcelona’s Dream Signing for Summer 2026

Omar Marmoush has become Barcelona’s top target for the upcoming period. Sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick believe he is the ideal option to provide the necessary attacking support in the summer of 2026.

Barça is looking for a new striker, and their initial target was Julián Álvarez. However, Atlético Madrid’s insistence on keeping him and their demand for at least €200 million to allow his departure makes signing him virtually impossible for the Catalan club.

Because of this, Deco has turned his attention to the alternative plan represented by Marmoush, who seems 100% compatible with Hansi Flick’s attacking style.

Barcelona’s interest in Marmoush is not new. The “Egyptian Prince” has been on the Catalan club’s radar since his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, and had he not moved to Manchester City in the winter of 2025, Deco would have tried to sign him last summer.

Marmoush is a versatile striker with exceptional technical skill, the ability to integrate into team play, and a keen eye for goal – four factors that make him the ideal successor to Lewandowski at Camp Nou.

Barcelona isn’t looking for a traditional striker like Lewandowski, but rather a dynamic forward capable of playing in multiple positions. The 25-year-old Marmoush is the perfect fit, able to play as a winger, second striker, or attacking midfielder – all with equal quality.

The biggest obstacle to the deal remains Manchester City. While Marmoush hasn’t featured much this season, the English club will want to recoup at least the €75 million they paid for the Egyptian – a sum Barcelona is unlikely to be able to afford at present.
