Officially: Zamalek dismisses Peseiro and announces his successor

Zamalek announced in an official statement the dismissal of coach José Peseiro from his position following a recent decline in results.

The Portuguese coach took over the White Castle last February, succeeding Christian Gross, hoping to salvage the season both domestically and continentally.

Peseiro failed in his mission, as Zamalek was eliminated from the Confederation Cup in the quarterfinals, effectively losing the chance to compete for the Egyptian Premier League or even qualify for the Champions League next season.

After the recent 2-2 draw against Al-Bank Al-Ahly, criticism of Peseiro intensified, leading the club to decide to dismiss him to salvage what was left of it.

According to Zamalek’s announcement, the termination of Peseiro’s contract was mutually agreed upon by both parties, while other reports suggest that the coach refuses to negotiate and wants to receive his delayed salary for the last three months.

Peseiro and his assistants not only left, but also football director Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed, who also resigned from his position.

Zamalek then announced the temporary appointment of Ayman El-Ramady as the White Knight’s coach until the end of the season.
