Wissam Ben Yedder has officially joined Wydad Casablanca on a six-month contract with the option to extend for another year by mutual agreement.
Ben Yedder is known for his extensive experience in the French league, most notably with Monaco, and also enjoyed a successful spell with Sevilla in Spain.
The 35-year-old spent the last six months with Turkish club Sakaryaspor before terminating his contract at his own request at the start of 2026.
Ultimately, Ben Yedder will join Wydad, who officially announced the news, noting that the extension of the Tunisian-born player’s contract will depend on the number of goals he scores in the remainder of this season, without specifying the exact target.
It is worth noting that Ben Yedder has previously represented the French national team in 19 international matches, scoring 3 goals. He was also the top scorer in the French league in the 2019-20 season with 18 goals.
Ben Yedder has faced difficulties in recent years after being accused of rape, which led to his departure from Europe. After leaving Monaco, he moved to Sepahan in Iran, then to Turkey, and now he has arrived in Morocco.
Ben Yedder is Wydad Casablanca’s third major signing in recent months, following the acquisition of renowned star Hakim Ziyech and rising star Ayman El Wafi, as the club seeks to return to winning ways after three trophyless seasons.
