The Moroccan national team has officially qualified for the 2026 World Cup following a resounding 5-0 victory over Niger in the sixth round of qualifying.
The match was held at the renovated Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, and the stadium looked its best with the usual massive support of the Atlas Lions.
Only 29 minutes later, Ismail Sabiri gave the Moroccans the lead and then scored the second goal in the 38th minute.
Ayoub El Kaabi scored the third goal in the 51st minute, followed by Hamza Ikman’s fourth in the 69th minute, and Azzedine Ounahi completed the rout with a goal in the 84th minute.
Morocco now has 18 points and secures qualification for the World Cup with the remaining rounds remaining, as the gap between them and runner-up Tanzania is now eight points.
Thus, Morocco became the second Arab team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, following Jordan’s qualification from Asia through the third round of qualifiers.
Morocco also became the first African team to secure qualification for the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with Egypt and Tunisia also qualifying if they win the next round of qualifiers.
