Officially… Chelsea appoints Rosenior as Maresca’s successor

Chelsea Football Club has announced the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the team’s new manager, succeeding Italian Enzo Maresca, who was relieved of his duties on January 1st.

Rosenior, 41, has signed a contract extending until 2032 and joins Stamford Bridge after spending 18 months managing French club Strasbourg, owned by the BlueCo group, the same group that owns Chelsea.

In his first statement on the club’s official website, Rosenior said: “I am humbled and incredibly proud to be appointed manager of Chelsea Football Club. This club has a unique spirit and a rich history of trophies.”

Rosenior began his coaching career with Brighton’s under-23 team in 2018, then worked at Derby County for a season and a half. In the 2024-25 season, he took over at Strasbourg, leading them to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 and qualification for the UEFA Europa League.

Rosenior will begin his Chelsea tenure with a Premier League match against Fulham on Wednesday evening, the first of five consecutive home games for the Blues across four different competitions (Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Champions League).

With this appointment, Rosenior becomes the fifth permanent manager to take charge of Chelsea since 2021, following Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, and Enzo Maresca.
