Ramsey retires as one of the greatest players in Welsh history, having scored 21 goals in 86 international appearances and represented his country in three major tournaments.

He played a pivotal role in Wales’ historic run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals and also participated in Euro 2020 and Wales’ first World Cup appearance in 64 years, since Qatar 2002.

The skillful playmaker began his career at Cardiff City before moving to Arsenal in 2008, where he spent 11 years and won three FA Cup titles, scoring the winning goal in two finals.

Ramsey also represented Juventus in Italy and Nice in France, in addition to a loan spell with Rangers in Scotland, where he helped them reach the 2022 Europa League final (despite missing a penalty in the shootout). He also returned to his boyhood club Cardiff City for a second stint, briefly serving as interim manager at the end of last season.

The 35-year-old, who has been without a club since leaving Mexican side Pumas UNAM last year, is expected to pursue a coaching career.
