Heung-min Son has announced the end of his legendary career with Tottenham, while English media outlets have revealed the South Korean star’s next destination, which will be outside of Europe.
Son joined Tottenham in the summer of 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen for €30 million. Since then, he has become one of the most prominent and important stars for Spurs, achieving numerous accomplishments, including the only title, the Europa League, last season.
Son is the most Asian player in Premier League history in terms of goals and assists. He is also the club’s all-time leading foreign scorer and fifth overall on the Spurs’ all-time scoring list.
The 33-year-old commented on his decision to leave, saying, “It’s the toughest decision of my career,” but expressed his immense pride in his ten-year career in London and how it unfolded from the beginning to the end.
According to English newspapers, Son has rejected various offers from Saudi league clubs, preferring to move to the MLS. It’s only a matter of time before his transfer to Los Angeles FC is announced after an agreement is reached with the club on all the details.
Son’s participation in the UEFA Super Cup on August 13 against Paris Saint-Germain remains in doubt if his departure is announced beforehand.
It’s worth noting that the South Korean has made 454 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, scoring 174 goals and providing 101 assists.
