UEFA has suspended a Real Madrid star for two Champions League matches.
The subject of this suspension is Dani Carvajal, who received a red card in Marseille’s first match at the Santiago Bernabéu after assaulting the French club’s goalkeeper.
The punishment was expected to be more severe, but fortunately for the Real Madrid captain, the ban will be reduced to just two matches, based on the referee’s report.
Carvajal’s suspension will apply to matches against Kairat on Tuesday and Juventus on October 22.
In any case, Carvajal was unable to play in either match after sustaining an injury in the recent match against Atlético Madrid, which will rule him out for at least a month.
A new dilemma is emerging for coach Xabi Alonso due to Carvajal’s injury, in light of the injury to fellow right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, which will force him to rely on either Fede Valverde or Raúl Asensio in that position until one of them recovers.
