Spanish media confirmed that Real Madrid star Endrick has suffered a setback that could extend his absence from the field for a prolonged period.
The Brazilian international suffered a hamstring injury on May 18 and was expected to recover before the 2025 Club World Cup, but suffered a sudden setback that sidelined him from international duty.
Endrick subsequently returned to training with Xabi Alonso’s squad, but sustained the injury during his last training session in the United States.
According to the newspaper “AS,” Endrick will be out of action for up to 10 weeks and is not expected to be ready until September.
The biggest beneficiary of this injury will be another young star, Gonzalo Garcia, with whom negotiations began immediately to renew his contract to become Real Madrid’s backup striker next season.
The 21-year-old Garcia has recently received numerous offers from both inside and outside Spain, and the club’s management has yet to decide on his future. However, everything now points to him staying with the club next season and not being loaned out or released permanently.
Garcia finished as the top scorer at the Club World Cup with four goals.
Real Madrid still believes in Endrick, but his delayed return will effectively change his position, as coach Alonso is considering using him as a right winger rather than a striker.
